TASK GUIDE

Why Your IP Changes Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data

Changing networks normally changes the public route used by your device.

Run the check

  1. Use the same device and browser for both results.
  2. Record only the minimum details you need; do not share a full IP address publicly.
  3. Change one condition, then reload and compare.

Worked example

Example: home Wi-Fi may use the broadband account’s shared IPv4 address, while mobile data uses the carrier’s gateway and may also expose IPv6. Neither change means the device was hacked.

How to interpret an inconclusive result

Record each result, the connection type and time. Dynamic addressing, carrier-grade NAT and IPv6 privacy addresses can all cause normal changes.

Limitations

These checks observe browser-visible network behavior at one moment. They do not audit encryption, account safety, malware, every DNS route or every application on the device.
