DNS Leak Test
A DNS leak can occur when domain-name requests use a resolver outside the privacy route you expect, such as outside a VPN tunnel.
Controlled test guidance
- Note your current VPN status and server country.
- Open several new websites to generate DNS requests.
- Compare the reported resolver country and provider with the VPN or network you intended to use.
- Repeat once with the VPN disconnected to establish a baseline.
This release does not claim a resolver result until a verified DNS test provider is integrated.
What a mismatch means
A different resolver is not automatically a leak. Enterprise networks, encrypted DNS, browser settings and security software can legitimately select another resolver.
