TASK GUIDE
Why Does My IP Show the Wrong City?
IP geolocation maps network registration and routing data, not GPS.

Run the check
- Use the same device and browser for both results.
- Record only the minimum details you need; do not share a full IP address publicly.
- Change one condition, then reload and compare.
Worked example
A mobile user in Johor may appear in Kuala Lumpur because the carrier exits traffic through a central gateway. A home user may appear near the ISP’s network hub. Use country and provider as stronger clues than city.
How to interpret an inconclusive result
Do not use an IP city to identify a home or person. Check another reputable lookup, restart the router only if appropriate, and contact the ISP if a service blocks you based on a materially wrong country.
Limitations
These checks observe browser-visible network behavior at one moment. They do not audit encryption, account safety, malware, every DNS route or every application on the device.
