How to Change Your IP Address
Your public IP address may change naturally, or you can use several legitimate methods to obtain a different visible address. The right method depends on whether you need a temporary change, a stable address or a different network route.
Check your current address first
Record the result shown by the Terbit IP checker. Recheck after each method so you can confirm whether the public address actually changed. Do not confuse your device’s private Wi-Fi address with the public address visible to websites.
Reconnect your router
Many residential providers assign dynamic addresses. Turning the router off briefly and reconnecting may result in a new address, but there is no guarantee because the provider may return the same lease. Avoid repeated power cycling, which can disrupt service without changing the allocation.
Change networks
Moving from home Wi-Fi to a mobile network or another trusted connection normally changes the public address because traffic exits through a different provider. Public Wi-Fi creates additional security risks, so prefer encrypted websites and avoid sensitive activity on networks you do not trust.
Use a VPN or proxy
A VPN routes covered traffic through a remote server and changes the address visible to destinations. A proxy may cover only one browser or application and may not encrypt traffic. Review how VPNs work before relying on one.
Ask your internet provider
If you need a fixed address for remote access, hosting or business controls, ask the provider about a static IP service. Static addresses may involve a fee and need stronger firewall and access controls because they remain predictable.
Know the limitations
Changing an IP address does not erase browser cookies, account history, device identifiers or information already shared online. It also does not authorise access to systems or services. Combine network changes with strong passwords, multifactor authentication and updated devices.
